Hi to all!
I'm new in this forum, i haven't found a section where i can introduce myself so i'll write just who am i.
I'm a 17 years noob from Italy with the passion of blacksmithing, in particular: in knife and weapons making.
I started some months ago with blacksmithing, i watched lot of videos on youtube, and now i found this forum. I already have some tools, like a welder, a grinder, and other basic stuff. I don't have lots of things, and i miss one. A anvil. Since i don't have money, REALLY, i don't have moneys to spend, especially over 300$ to buy one, i can't find a way to get an alternative (i searched for railway bars, i found nothing near me...)...
Another thing i would like to ask you is: since this is the first thing i tried to make (and sucks... So bad...)... What should i do to get better?

For moderators: I'm sorry if i posted this in the wrong section or i shouldn't have posted this...

Start with a simple design, something that is tried and true. Draw it on a piece of paper and refine it until it looks right. Then cut it out on a piece of cardboard to make sure it fits your hand nicely. Then trace it out into steel.

Also like Maelstrom said, read all of the stickies

Remember this- a knife is not a flat piece of steel with a small bevel at the edge. The bevel needs to go much further up the blade.

Assuming you have a forge, a 16 lbs. sledge hammer head stuck in a bucket of concrete is the cheapest, serviceable anvil I've seen.
