Our firearm season start Nov. 19th, and I went out to do some scouting this AM, saw a few scrapes on some saplings, and found some scat not 30 feet from one of the blinds.

just 3 weeks, just 3 weeks, just 3 weeks.................. :D

Very nice

So. Illinois.

Probably eater. I have already decided that if I get a deer this year, I'm donating the entire thing to Illinois Sportsmen Against Hunger". We have an over abundance of Does here also, and they are encouraging folks to shoot more. (although if a nice Buck just presents itself, I may bag it) :)

Good luck on your hunt

You to!

Cool on the donation
We have a meat processor here that does the same only locally, with roadkill-as long as its fresh lol.Onliest one in the province through our local hunter organisation.
Ive read that the Ill.project has donated literaly tons of meat for the needy
Did you ever consider making sausage for yourself and family with some
Mighty fine eating
Hope its a wallhanger for you

I had some processed as ground last year, but no sausage. Ended up giving most of that to a local food pantry. Not a lot of venison eaters in my house, so it takes awhile for me to eat it all! :)

Anything brown is down for me. I will shoot whatever presents itself. I am more in it for meat than a rack. Can't eat the antlers ;)

Yeah, I honestly have no interest in paying a fortune to have a head mounted. About the only reason I'd like to get a nice Buck would be to have someone make a knife handle out of the crown piece, or maybe have someone rescale a Buck 301 stockman with scales from antler from my deer.

The other thing that bugs me, is that after I shot a nice Doe last year, I've had no end of comments from folks that see the picture that were "Oh, just a Doe" stuff.

If I shoot a nice buck, I guarantee it will be mounted. However, that is not what I hunt for. I hunt for the meat. If that meat comes from a smaller buck, oh well. A doe is even better as the meat tastes better. Doe or buck, meat is meat to me.

I've had the 'Oh, just a doe' too. It gets annoying, especially when they want to eat your meat because they couldn't fill their tag due to passing on does or small bucks to wait for a big one.

Or have never hunted a deer in their life....I about backhanded that kid....:)

From what I understand, Does are much better eating. We have a program here in MD where you can donate the meat. The processors will handle the deer for free in that instance. Let those of us who are able bodied and able minded go out and get some food for those of us who are in need. And have a bit of fun in the process. :) Yuppers, ...starting to get that itch.

Sighted in ready to go!!! :)

Here in Northwest Tennessee we can kill 3 does per day from now through the end of the year. We have a hunters for the hungry program. I usualy try to take 3 does per 1 mature buck. My 8 year old daughter went on her first juvenile hunt this weekend, we saw a lot of deer including a nice 7 point I grunted in. He came haulin out to the edge of a field all pissed off. She just couldn't get a shot. I'm pumped, this weekend starts our muzzle loader season. Also looking forward to trying out some new skinner designs. Good luck to everybody.

Im not deer hunting. Im the only person in the family who will eat venison. I have two deer in the freezer that Im gonna have to throw away.

Been out looking though. Found a couple of fresh scrapes {on the ground} and some cedars that are getting rubbed raw.

Bear Claw, this is my Southern Illinois whitetail rig, and deadly accurate.

T/C Encore with Bullberry custom 10" .44 magnum bbl and 2-6x Simmons scope.

With 10" bbl and fixed breach, plus seating bullets out to 1.72" OAL, I'm getting 1400 fps out of the Nosler 300 gr. HP.

I shot this 130" buck last year, my 44 buck. 44 mag at 44 yards 44 minutes into the season!

Deer season is over in my neck of the woods, but going on a hog hunt on Friday to ease the pain of no more deer for a year. Nice Ruger Blackhawk and T/C, too.

Nice rig Mamba, I may move up to a .44 magnum next year. This Blackhawk is a 45 Colt, but while I've shot several, I've never owned a .44 and lately have been getting the itch for one!

Once once you scratch that itch:D you will be in LOVE :p 44 mag RUGERS ARE fun and manageable hand cannons!!;)
