Starting to get "Buck Fever"!

As a seasoned citizen I decided to break out my old S&W M29 44 mag and at the same time try the the DPX round . This is the all copper Barnes bullet 225 gr @ 1350.
My hunting buddy found a preserve that had red deer and they wanted to cull some females.
Got within 40 yds [ NO scope ! ] and put one high in the chest breaking a rib ,hitting a vertabrae, holing both lungs and breaking a rib on the other side ans stopping against the hide !
Still can shoot the M29 !! Bullet performance on a 230 lb animal.
As some of you are interested in cooking - they cooked up the liver - sliced , sauted with onion, salt , pepper and marjoram . Delicious !! Another treat was just baked bread .She's from Austria so it was a fine whole wheat loaf typical of that area.

It's coming soon Bear Claw! Indiana's gun season starts this weekend (13th). I'll be hunting alongside my ten year old. We'll both be armed with muzzleloaders. Since I've already taken a doe, I don't plan on shooting a doe....but if I do, I will donate it. If my son should happen to take a deer, it will have to go in the freezer. According to my son, it's not "if", but "when". The only person in my house that won't eat venison is my wife. When my daughter was little, she said that she didn't want to eat any. After she found out that it gets cooked, she was happy to try it!

I REALLY worked up now, we went out to scout some more this morning and found 4 fresh rubs that were not there a few days ago.

2 were within 100 yards of my blind, and 2 within 25 yards.

Here are the two closer ones. (The red arrow I added with paint.net, mark where my blind is)
