The wife and I went to Starved Rock State Park for a few days. Nice area. Very hot, but was worth it. Lots and lots of walking. Anyways, took the 14 with me, and got some shots of it at the park. Would like to go back in the fall. A lot cooler, and we didn't get a chance to see everything. The rainy season would be nice too, as some of the waterfalls were dry.

This was taken at the cross roads of the Kaskaskia, and Ottawa canyons:

Sweet photos man, I really love that part of the country.

Thanks for sharing :).
Thanks. It is pretty sweet there. My first time, and I only live about 140 miles from there.

Thanks. A Sony Cybershot DSC-W55.

Here's a little history I found: "Starved Rock State Park derives its name from a Native American legend of injustice and retribution. In the 1760s, Pontiac, chief of the Ottawa tribe upriver from here, was slain by an Illiniwek while attending a tribal council in southern Illinois. According to the legend, during one of the battles that subsequently occurred to avenge his killing, a band of Illiniwek, under attack by a band of Potawatomi (allies of the Ottawa), sought refuge atop a 125-foot sandstone butte. The Ottawa and Potawatomi surrounded the bluff and held their ground until the hapless Illiniwek died of starvation- giving rise to the name “Starved Rock.”".

Great pics! I love hiking there in the fall and winter.
Thanks. I think we'll probably go back this fall. Should be beautiful when the leaves change color.

Wow that's awesome. And what brutal history too. Thanks for sharing

At least we know one Warrior who has a talent for photography.

Looks like you had fun.

Nice work.

Wow Warrior, great photos! I never knew y'all had places like that in Illinois. The canyons are awesome! Liking that history too, thanks for taking us with you!

Beautiful photos man! I can only hope to visit places like that!
Nice Eskabar too!

Damn I didn't know that you were using a 7.1MP Sony cybershot also. That's pretty cool that a camera like mine can take such cool pictures. I need to practice more I think. I was looking at a 16.(?) MP Sony. It is only like $220; not bad considering I paid $400 for the camera I have now a few years ago lol..:)

That's a good idea.....I'm getting to 2000 posts pretty soon.....hhhmmmmmmm

Beautiful country out there! Those are awesome photos man, thanks for sharing!!

Thats awesome, I would love to check that place out sometime.

Thanks for the pics bro....

That is a whole lot of pics. Thanks for sharing them.. some of that looks pretty similar to where I hunt at.

Warrior, you post some of the most incredible photographs I've ever seen on any forum. Even though I don't always comment, I always enjoy looking at them.

Very good pic's with both of the Parks and it looks awesome and only wish our local Park {Cades Cove} here in Tn. looked that good as far as Bluffs and Cliffs go.!
We see a lot of Deer ~~ Bear ~~ Turkey ~~ and maybe a Wolf or two if we are lucky.* Thanks for sharing.!

Thanks guys, much appreciated. Murph, Google image Shawnee National Forest, or perhaps Garden of the gods Illinois. Giant City State Park is also nice. There are some pretty places in Illinois.
