Any regulars on here know that my Scrapyard DM is my favourite edc knife, for it's size it is arguably the strongest knife you can buy, however it's thick edge is maybe not the best choice for making feather sticks or slicing your tomato's wafer thin when making your campsite sarnies !!!
The other day I happened to stumble upon this little Buck in Wally World, it cost not much more than a Mora, weighs next to nothing, comes hair popping sharp and is perfect for throwing in my PSK and forgetting about until I need it.
I know I may well be dragged into the streets and stoned to death for saying this knowing the strong following on this forum but I much prefer this to a Mora, the handle feels better, it has some jimping on the spine to prevent slipping and I like the deeper belly of the blade.
So while my DM is still my edc, this little slicer is in my kit ready for when some finer tasks are needed !!!

No knife is perfect for everyone! So no need about ruffling Mora feathers around here!! Looks like a great little knife - how much was it? Sheath?

Yeah it came with a fairly decent sheath and cost around $20 !!!

I had seen the knife before and thought the handle was hard plastic but it is actually hard rubber and feels really good, it also looks to have a full tang !!!

It certainly looks like a nice blade combination that you've got there: you have the stout Scrap Yard MD for batoning and the Buck for the fine tasks. I think this is a winning combination!

They are only 420 stainless but Buck must have a really good heat treatment that brings out the best in this steel !

Yes, that is what I have learned and read as well, 420HC. There have been several individual tests where the buck knives outcut higher end steels due to their heat treat and blade geometry. That is a great little knife. I bought one about a year ago from Ace Hardware. Very nice looking and thicker than most of those moras. I belive the sheath is nylon with a hard plastic liner? (trying to mental picture the thing as it is back home and I am in my dorm) Hope this helps, J.

Pretty cool Pitdog! I think I will head over to WallyWorld and get one. Might even get 2 and try a stacked leather handle on one. Wonder how well it throw sparks from a ferro rod?

Speaking as a Mora fan, I'd say that looks like a pretty nice knife. I just prefer carbon steel and a scandi grind, is all. If you're happy, that's all that really matters, now isn't it?

I have the same knife and use it around the house. It has been a great little user. Was your picture taken outside or is that a studio shot, I love the contrast in that pic.

You have committed Mora Blasphemy!!!! I turn my back to you sir!!!!
:p:D

Guess I gotta go to Wally's and check it out.

If you look in the picture on the spine of the blade there are some teeth. I have this knife and because of the teeth it throws sparks great.
