Stashaway Shirt

The Stashaway Shirt arrived today. Shipping was $4.50. I ordered Saturday, 12/1/02. Today is Wednesday, 12/5/01. The Boss lives on the left coast. I live on the right coast.

It is more quiet than Gore-Tex, as stated.

It fits me when I'm wearing my 300 Series PolarTec jacket. I was worried about that because I weigh 260#, and the Stashaway also fits Carol.

Unlike Dan I'm having windless, 70 degree weather and sun, so I can't report on the Stashaway's wind and water characteristics yet.

Some primary things I wanted were quiet and small stuff size for ease of carrying. It stuffs very small and is quiet. Shipping was fast and inexpensive. Though much lighter material, the Stashaway quality seems on a par with my Blackhawk Patrol Pack, also available at GGEG.

Take care,

After rereading your last post, about your little walk in the woods, I find that I had overlooked the meaning of the first two words in your post.

Glad you are enjoying your shirt :)

Mine has been keeping me happy out here in the desert. It's been fun out here. Had a f-14 fly over our heads so close I thought I could touch it - full afterburners and upside down - coolest thing I've seen in a long time :D

Some people have all the fun. The sailor was probably upsidedown to empty the beer bottles out of his cockpit.

Javahed,

I'm really interested to get one of 'em Stashaway Shirt for my future trip into Borneo (Hiking & Caving Expedition).

Just curious 'bout shipping to us here in the Southest Asia ..... with the exchange rates in excess of 1 US$ to RM$3.80 and 2000 plus miles of travelling got to be sure 'bout the details before I make an order with any of the online place .... most don't do shipping outside the States ???

Thanks

I can mail the stashaway shirt to you Global Priority for $10.00. It will be delivered to you within 3-5 days. Let me know if you're interested. I have only one shirt left.

Thanks Carol,

E-mail sent.

Dan ..... gee a F-14 Tomcat inverted ...... a sight for sore eyes.
Was the wings swept back or fully extended ... just curious. Enjoy your trip in the desert.

They were swept back and he was moving out like there was no tommorrow :D

We were buzzed even better the day before yesterday! The team and I jumped out of an AC130, and after we grouped up on the ground - that bird came in, I swear just 50 feet off the deck. Thought we were going to get clipped by his props, and then he came around again even lower :D

Have fun!

Gotta say that us here in the tropics see on an average of 3 days of rain per week (sometimes its worst especially in Nov-Dec during the monsoon). If you're somebody on a bike or always out in the open (I work in the field a lot) then tough luck and bring lots of change in clothes.

How shall I describe My Stashway Shirt :
1. Very soft (quiet) and light (hardly feel the weight).
2. Compact (carry it in my Extra pockets of my BDU pants).
3. Handy (for use during rainy spells and as a windbreaker)
4. Very waterproof without the usual rubberish feel (and smell) which is hell her in the tropics. Its also breathable which is a heck of more wearable when windy but hot).
5. Rugged look plus great colour.

........ my final comment ... its always with me in my BDU pants pocket or in my BOB gear bag.

Test Report
Just got back from a 2 mile fitness walk. It was the first time I wore my Stashway shirt for any length of time. I wore a wool watch cap and wool pants. Over a Cool-Max type T-Shirt I wore a medium weight wool sweater. Over the sweater I wore the Stashaway Shirt.

I had only intended to walk a mile but things went so well I doubled it to 2 miles. Basically it was one of those good walks where your temperature doesn't change. In other words I didn't get hot or cold. The rain and sleet beaded all over the Stashaway shirt. I didn't get at all wet under the Stashaway- it breathed fine. The long waist (elasticized) and sleeve cuffs (elastized also) were just right to keep heat in and rain out. The Stashaway was much quieter than Gore-Tex. It was almost as quiet as wool.

The only downside was the hood, and that was only a small, hopefully fixable, problem. We all know how hoods block your view. Stashaway too.
It wasn't as bad as most, but it bugs me. I'm going to rig an adjustable piece of olive drab paracord between the back of the neck and the top of the hood. Hopefully I can adjust the hood while walking to keep it from limiting my view, while retaining the ability to draw the hood almost shut over my face while sleeping.

I own lots of coats. Filson, Gore-Tex, Cabellas etc. The Stashaway doesn't look fashionable, it is a field coat. I like it the best of all my field coats. It is light, stuffs to softball size, is breatheable, waterproof, windproof and quiet.

Thanks Dan and Carol for the truth and my best field coat.

Take care,
