State of the servers

Thanks Spark. Only issues are changing things such as avatars and sigs.
Much faster so far.

I made a post a few minutes ago and the "new post" page isn't showing that I was the last person to post in that thread.

When I submitted that post the page I had open froze. It also froze when I attempted to edit that post. Everything was fine for me earlier in the evening.

Edit: It is now telling me that I have to wait 60 seconds between posts despite the fact that my last post was over 15 minutes ago.

Edit #2: It took ten minutes for this post to show.

Thanks for the feedback, we're still working on things

i haven't been able to access the site from my comp since it came back up. when i log on, it says i'm not a registered user, but my name shows on the list of online users. don't know if its one of the bugs you're working on or what, but i don't think its on my end.

If you are able to post, you are logged in?

Thanks Spark.Everything's been pretty fast on my end.

Appreciate the update:thumbup:

So far, VERY impressed with the speed.

Good move.

I have had the same problem. Using the 'remember me box' doesn't help. However, once I click on my name from the list of online users it takes me directly to my profile page and I am good to go to post.

i'll have to try that. thanks.

I strongly caution everyone against upgrading to vbulletin 4 at this time unless you have lots of hardware or VMs to spare. My preliminary testing shows it's about twice as slow for serving .php pages (static images/js/css content would ofc be the same regardless of vb version).

My testing was with repeated hits of the same page(s), so it represents best-case performance when most of the visitors are hitting pages that have content that is already cached (xcache's opcode cache, xcache's variable cache, mysql's query cache).

Hits on uncached pages (.php files not yet compiled to opcodes, codepaths that don't have data structures cached by vbulletin using xcache, or pages that require queries that aren't cached) will be significantly slower in any version of vB, but I haven't bothered to quantify. It could be that vb3 and vb4 don't have quite as large a gap in performance on those slower codepaths.

@spark, you might consider having www.bladeforums.com/foo redirect to bladeforums.com/foo, or vice versa. That would eliminate the vast majority of cookie problems, since there'd be only one domain people could login and visit.

After experiencing much faster load times since the switch the last couple of days BFC doesn't seem much improved over the old servers. :grumpy: :(

And here I thought everything was good to go. What browser are you using?

Hi Spark -

The forum has been running very nicely since the move.

It has worked quickly with IE 6, chrome, and firefox on my various computers, and on my phone I use the google droid browser and opera mini, both of which are
performing flawlessly.

I was easily able to log back in after the upgrade to establish a v4 cookie -

All is well - great job on the upgrade.

best regards -

Anyone else getting timed out when trying to PM? Happened several times yesterday, and still happening today...

Firefox user here.
No problems PMing. No problems of any kind from the first time I logged into the new servers. My old Browser link to BF works

Runs significantly faster than before.

Thanks Spark. Ya done good for us.
