Status of the Year 2000 Ironwood handled 532?

Peter

The 532 you have is 425M or 425 modified. It was developed by Allegheny Ludlam in Penn.

It does allow us to use fineblanking techniques for making the blade blank. This provides a more consistent and accurate blank than laser or conventional blanking. It ensures that the folding knife with the blade and rocker that have been fineblanked will consistently interact the correct way because the parts do not change from part to part. Lock engagement perfect time after time.

We switched to 420HC because it was more available and with our state of the art heat treating we could guarantee the same hardness results as 425M of 57-59 RC. Easier availability means less backorders and happier customers...

CJ,
Thanks for the additional information. I quess my question now would be: How does the 425M steel compare to the BG42 that was used in the Master Series knives?
