Status on Bladeforums Special Ed. Sifu

How are they coming? Are they on line for Nov. 1-ish releash like Mike talked about?

I am new to this forum. Please advise what sort of special Sifu is being made for Bladeforum? I have been considering buying a Sifu, but now maybe I should wait for this "version".
 
The "Bladeforums SIFU" has a D2 steel blade, with a slightly modified composition and/or heat treat, versus the standard SIFU's blade of ATS-34. There may be one or two other special things about it (engraving on the blade?), but the big item is the blade steel. The modified, call it D2 Enhanced, or D2E, is supposed to be tougher that the ATS, while being just as stain resistant.

Hopefully I got all that correct. If not, I'm sure someone will correct me. You can order the Special Ed. SIFU as 1SKS. Go to the REKAT sectiond, and look under SIFU. IIRC.

Rockspyder, can't seem to find the special edition. Just the first edition. Is there anyway for a guy, who seems to have missed the boat (that'd be me and a bunch of others), to get on? Is it still available, how much does it cost, who can we place the order with?

The Special Edition also has a more conventional folder handle without the finger grooves of the typical SIFU.

I don't think you missed the boat. If you want to order one, go to the 1stopknifeshop (click "STORE") and go to the SPECIALS section. It will list the REKAT SIFU D-2 for $149.
 
Any chance that rekat will make a D2 version of the regular finger grooved sifu?

I like the finger grooves.
 
Is this still on track for early Nov.?
If so will I be able to bring mine back from Jacksonville on the 6th of Nov.?

My reciept from one stop is dated 9/6/00. They were supposed to be 45-60 days out then... Any day now!!!

Yes, there are eventually going to be standard-grip D2-M Sifus made. This first BF batch has a grip sorta like a "stretched Carnivore" grip, with just one fingergroove point instead of 4 in the original.

I personally prefer the original. I'll wait until those ship in D2-M...after almost a year of training with and carrying the original, I don't want to switch to another grip style when the original fits my hands well.

That's not a slur on the other grip style.

The new grip style will be exclusive to 1SKS and BladeForums. They are still I the pipe and we expect them to be here with 30 days. Crossed fingers and all

Will there be enough supply to meet the demand? If an order confirmation is received from 1Stop does that mean you are assured an SE Sifu model as ordered from the first run? I hate to get my hopes up only to be informed 2 -3 months later that the special knives are all gone. Should I be asking these questions at the Exchange forum?

edit: (Update actually) On another thread Santi reports that he received his D2 enhanced Sifu. Is this the same as a BF SE D2 Sifu? It sounds like some knives may be trickling out of the factory. Can we hear more from those receiving their D2 Sifu's (any of the D2 versions)?
