Hey guys and gals,

Had a new forum member email me on my Protech TR4/Tops Trekker I listed for trade last week. He did not post to the thread so I asked him to...so I could identify the forum member. It took him some time, but he ended up finally posting. See thread below.

He wanted to trade me a NIB Benchmade Boost for the Tops. I agreed and he agreed to ship first. The following day emailed me asking for my zip code stating that I left it off. I did not forget so I sent him the email again. He said he would be shipping the following day.

At this point things were starting to get pretty sketchy. He asked if I was shipping at the same time...I reiterated my stance on the matter. I replied that my post clearly said low feedback members must ship first. He then gave me a sap story of how he got screwed on Reddit or some crap. I was polite and again told him my stance. He sent several emails to me stating that he would send pics of the tracking and package to prove he was trustworthy. I kindly replied back and said I was no longer interested...deal closed.

I got home from work today to find a UPS delivered box from carquackup (aka Jake Larson). In the box contained a rock labeled "Sebenza 21 Large."

This guy clearly tried to fool me with his stupid scam. He had already sent the rock and was prepared to send me pics of the tracking and box.

Getting this out there to keep everyone in the loop on this scum bag. Its almost comical that this clown actually took the time to do this.

You are smart for not believing this fool. People trying to change the terms of the deal, after the initial agreement, is a large red flag. He sounds like a drug user looking for easy money.

Looking at his only other post, I wonder if he has another rock named benchmade.
 
Good work on dodging that bullet.

I would still be reporting him to the post office, police and/or any government scam watch websites. This is unlikely to be his first attempt but it may be his first failed attempt.

Edit: can you post up your email conversations and other records so people have info to back up your story? I'm not really doubtinh what you're saying but a more complete picture is a good idea.
 
Sweet Hesus that is as blatant as they get. I do however wonder how many other "knives" ----errr rocks he mailed out that day in trade from other locations.
 
Yep, reading the exchange as it progresses it sounds more and more like he is trying to scam you. The worst part is that had you shipped and received that box in return he would be bleating how "unbelievable" it would be to shop a rock like that, I am almost thinking that the box got into the mail by mistake.

I would also report him to the mods (I may have missed you doing so) to make sure they see. His name and address need to be up in big lights as he will do this again...
 
Oh you wanted the Sebenza 21 KNIFE!? I thought you wanted the Sebenza 21 ROCK. I can see where he got confused there.

Next time be sure to specify, I mean Sebbie 21 rocks are such hot items it's not a wonder that he thought that's what you wanted.
 
Send that Sebenza back for a spa treatment, you'll be amazed at what it will look like after it's all polished up.....:eek:

Good for you for not falling for his scam.

For those interested, do a Google for "commemorative medallion of Pres. Lincoln" or "Solar clothes dryer" scams. He's trying an old school short con. If you check his posts I'll bet he never offered to send you a Sebenza 21 "knife", just a Sebenza 21.

Absolutely no reason whatsoever for that mutt to be here. This shit will just happen again.
