Whats your method for finishing bolsters on full tang knives, particularly steel bolsters which are harder than the scale material? Do you finish fully then peen on and then do touch-up? Or do you just finish the front and peen on and then fully finish after glue up? Whats your best method?
 
If im positive about the handle shape, I finish fully and tape it off, if the scales and bolster require a lot of blending, I finish the front only
 
John- you're a michigander too. Where at? When you finish fully do you not peen them on? Or do very careful peen and light touchup?
