I watched the 1987 Patrick Swayze film Steel Dawn the other day. While it's a mediocre B-grade film, I enjoyed the fight scenes. Patrick Swayze wields a curious tubular-handled, double-edged blade that appears to be manufactured of sheet metal (as is most everything in the future -- apparently, the Apocalypse always involves a big discount on sheet metal and chicken wire). The tubular handle enables him to do a lot of flashy spinning and twirling of the blade.
Meanwhile, Swayze's nemesis (an actor whose name I do not recall but who played the balding archvillain in the Jeff Speakman vehicle Street Knight, if I remember correctly) staggers around like he's got a bad case of thigh inflammation, wearing a genuinely awful Tina Turner wig to cover his balding pate. He's got a nice pair of matched short swords, though.
Anyone seen this movie? Anybody ever heard anything about reproduction swords from the film? Any comments at all?
