Is A2 more expensive than ATS-34? What about D2?

I looked up several sources, but since they list steel stock in different sizes, it's hard to really compare.

yes a-2 is more ezpensive and it will allso rust as it only has .5 chrome

Gerome,

Thanks for the answer. I'm surprized at that. It would seem to me they're compositionally similiar. (except for chromium) And with what I heard about ATS-34 being made to exacting standards and vaccum melted. . .

Just don't get it I guess.

Calculate price/LB or price per volume to compare.

You will find that A2 has about 5%Chrome and .9% Carbon. D2 has about 12% Chrome and about 1% Carbon. ATS 34 has about 13% Chrome and about 1.5% Carbon. The more Chrome the better the corrosion resistance(rust). ATS 34 is a foreign import that is very close to CPM 154 which used to be made by Crucible Steel.
