Review Steel Flame

Their products usually do use precious metals. That and the artistic skill needed to build such things drives up costs.

I’ll join you on this hill. I’m a huge Hinderer fan but I cannot even come close to bringing myself to paying $500-$1200 for a pocket clip. Like the OP said, I have $1,000 plus knives but there isn’t a universe to at I’m spending $1,000 on a pocket clip even if there are precious metals involved.

Fair warning, I will deny this was my post if I’m collecting Steel Flame Hinderers in the future.

Back in the day, Steelflame was slightly less absurd in their pricing, and made some actually neat stuff. I have a few of the American Flag clips that they did, that I paid somewhere around $95 each for, and was glad to do it. They're actually 3D and aren't a laser etch on a standard flat ti clip. Very nice work, They have the Emerson/Benchmade three screw pattern hole, so they've gone on a lot of knives over the years. But SF have also done stupid stuff as well, like those skull clips they've done for Emerson and Hinderer, where the skulls got progressively bigger, to the point where the largest one is about the size of a large gumball, and yes reach four figures(!!!). Those essentially exist for Instagram knifebros to be able to show off their connections and excessive level of disposable income (or lines of credit) to others. 🤷

I have a few Steel Flame dog tags, bottle openers and a few of their chains. They make some reasonable price stuff, but also some really expensive things for the market you mentioned.

My oldest folder (Crawford Perseco, the folding version of Bob Kasper's Dragon design) with a SteelFlame sterling silver and gold 3D dragon pocket clip. A $ 125 clip on a $ 650 knife.

This was my EDC for work carry for 15 years before I retired. I don't think that either was money wasted. Now, $ 500+ for a knife made in the PRC that looks like most other knives made there, to me that's stupid. However, I respect people for their choices even though mine would be different.
