where is a good place to get steel for knife making? i wanna try to experiment with making a blade

If it is an arcaeology experiment you're after, try stone knapping. Otherwise, the learning curve is steep and the equipment is cost-prohibitive

besides, we've only worked steel for a few thousand years, but stone for over a million. Before the advent of surgical lasers, obsdian was the choice for scalpels used in eye surgery.

i would love to do knapping but its hard to find obsidian and chert and all out here:/
