Steel for tomahawks?

Hey guys. Has anyone ever used 1" round stock for tomahawks? I know a lot of guys use 1" square stock but I'm asking because I know a guy with a lot of 1" round 5160 that he's selling for cheap. If it's too small for hawks, would it be adequate to forge out some big blades? Thanks guys.
