About a year ago I seen so many positive, and raving reviews on the Sebenza...well, I got one and am verry satisfied.
Same thing with the Busse knives...my choice will be the Steel Heart...I would like to hear from those who have one how it performs and sharpens!! Especially how they sharpen, what with, and how sharp it gets!! Thanks guys!

I just sharpened my Battle Mistress yesterday as it was not slicing at 100% because the edge was a little worn. I would assume that a Steel Heart would be similar just a little faster because of the lower length. I used sandpaper on top of leather on a wooden paddle for the rough beveling and finished with a loose strop loaded with CrO compound.

More specific ? Ok :

I started with 220 SiC and used 25 strokes per side. This produced a full even burr. I then went up to 280 AO and another 25 strokes per side. I finished with 600 AO and 25 per side and then 10 alternating, low force, crossing strokes.

The blade would now slice shave and slice paper readily, but was a little rough. I then stropped it, 35 strokes per side and when finished it would push shave and push though paper except for two regions where there were small subvisble dents remaining.

Note this method will eventually remove the flat part of the edge and give it a full convex profile. You don't have to do this very often either. I think this is the third or fourth time I have actually ground the edge, a smooth steel and a loaded strop will go a long way.
