Steel Heart I vs Steel Heart II: Differences?

Thanks but the time is not right for me yet. I 've got another question maybe you could answer. Were there not many old steelhearts made in Infi. The reason i ask is you sure don't see them. Just the one you parted with a while back is the only one i can remember. Also what are the differences in looks between the A-2 and Infi SHSH's as far as handle slabs and design go.

From what I am told, there are no BBSHSHs with a INFI blade. The SHIIs with hollow rivets are INFI and the handles usually have straight or diagonal grooves. There are some INFI bladed knives with slotted fasteners, but only Jerry really knows which they are.

I am fortunate enough to have three, got them way back when you could snag one under 400 and the BBSHSH was under 600. I do love these knives. :)

#3 is for sure INFI
#2 is most likely INFI, but not 100%, it has dimples and wont take blue.
#1 is my baby, Birds Beak Steel Heart II

Thanks Randucci, that's what i thought but was'nt quite sure on the slotted bolt SHSH'S. So if i've got an SHSHII with the same handle slabs as my SHBM 1 of 300 its a pretty good bet its probably going to be Infi.

Sweet group of steelhearts Dwayne to bad you still can't find them for that price. Thanks for the pics some day i'll get a BBSHSH.

I may be able to get a BBSHSH.
What price should they be these days.
I can probably get it for someone if they want it. I dont want any more collector knives.

Not necessarily, the slotted bolt SHSH's are a toss up. Like a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get till you bite into it. ;)

Something about the Birds Beak Steel Hearts just calls to me, the blade shape is simply attractive.
Man, one like #3 in INFI (especially for $400) would be an incredible user.

This one especially, its right at 1/4" and very sharp, if that smooth handled one wasn't already a user......

The only thing those knives are good for is cutting the Cheese.
:foot:

The smooth handled SHSH in the middle was once pounded into a fallen tree and used as a step for a rather large individual and cut its share of deer leg bones, no cheese, yet. :p

A search will show what I've put that SHe through, its not for the faint of heart. Abuse would be a light term.

A lot of us actually use our "collectibles", never assume anything. :D

When I spoke to Jerry about SHSH back a ways he told me right away that the Knife like Leatherman Posted,3rd one down, slotted screws grooves in handle is Infi.
but who cares they all will cut Cheese.

In that case i can't wait to cut the CHEESE!!! :D:D:D:thumbup:

Ok, When it comes to INFI vs A2, the way to look at it is with handle slabs. I remember when the transition from A2 to INFI happened and it was before tubes came in the picture, well before. Smooth handle means that there is a higher chance that your SHII is A2, and a possibility of INFI. Partially grooved handles is the opposite. These knives are most likely INFI with a very slim chance of A2, fully grooved handles regardless of slots or not is INFI. Maybe 1/10 of 1% that it is A2. Dimpling is not a good way to tell if it is INFI or not as the dimpling has to do with the HT and not with the type of steel.
