So there was a SH II, a SH E, and a SH IIE?

What would a SH IIE sell for now?

Don't listen to them, they're just pulling your chain. Believe me, if they actually had an extremley rare Busse they would post pics. They don't have one. It's the way of the Hog, to confuse and frustrate!

anyone have a ballpark guess?

Hi Billman,

I would suggest running a search in the sale forums for "SH-E" or "Steel Heart" to view the recent market prices. The prices for these have been rapidly changing and can vary greatly with each blade.

Great knife, that's for sure! :D

Billman: I don't think that there is a Steel Heart IIE.

The standard Steel Heart Line began with the Steel Heart in ATS 34, now called the Steel Heart I.

Next came the slightly longer version of the above knife, in A2 steel. It was called the Steel Heart II when it was first offered. It retains the "Bird Beak" pommel of the Steel Heart I.

Then came the Straight Handled Steel Heart with the rounded pommel. This was also when INFI steel was introduced. Over time it has become common (although incorrect) useage to call it the Steel Heart II, thus causing a little confusion.

Next was the Steel Heart E, with the Ergo handle.
This is the version that the thinner ZT Steel Heart is based on.

Now we have the Fusion Steel Heart.

Of course, there are special editions, variants, variations and some overlap of steels, but this is the basic Steel Heart lineage.

There is another Steel Heart in the direct lineage that I neglected to mention. The earliest Steel Heart E's had a much more pronounced drop in the handle, which was soon modified to the most commonly recognized SH E
configuration. As far as I know, there is no special terminology for that one, other than "early SH E with the extreme handle drop." In several years of following the Busse line, I have seen only one of these for sale on the aftermarket.

Billman,
Your question is kinda right and kinda wrong.
The Steel Heart has been made in the following configurations.
SH (SH1, it has a blade length of approx 6" and was the first of the SH configs made)

SH II (Steel Heart 2, 7.5" blade and came with both Birds Beak and round pommel)

SH-e (Steel Heart ergo, sometimes listed as SHe or SH ergo, 7.5" blade, came with black or tan coatings, later came with Olive coating. Also in regular 1/4" and 3/16" thickness. Other variations like Zero Tolerance series which had a different grind)

Lastly the FSH (Fusion Steel Heart, approx 8" blade, many different options and thicknesses)

You state you have a SHIIe, and I'm not really sure if you have a SHII or a SH e and they vary in price. Even telling me exactly what you have without a pic it would be difficult to give you an accurate price because of the different variations that are out there. SHIIe is also not really the correct "phraseology" as all of the SHe's were SHII's so they are usually referred to as only SHII's (Steel Heart 2's, see above for description) or SHe (Steel Heart Ergo, see above for description)

So it isn't that we don't want to help, but we really aren't sure what you have and it is very hard to give an accurate estimate until we do.

A picture would be great, or find a picture of one at www.badmojo.tv or on the for sale forums and then we'd be happy to help. However, as Troy (360Joules) stated, the prices are highly variable right now and your best estimate is going to come from finding one that has sold on the for sale forums.

In a nutshell, I believe you probably have a SHe (leave the II off when describing it) But if you can post a picture we'll be able to tell for sure

I hope that helps

:D:D
