Steel Heart in D2?

She is a beauty........I have been looking for one of those to finish my slotted bolt collection!

Great knife. I know it's special so you're not going to sell, but it really was the deal of a lifetime as far as Busses go. If you want to make some cash, you'll have no problem.

If you don't like that drop-leg kydex, I'm sure someone here would like to buy the sheath.

You're right that it's likely A2, though D2 wasn't that farfetched. I have an early fillet knife made by Jerry in D2, so he was using that steel in some knives.

Well, here she is. :)
According to my research I think it's a Steel Heart II, circa 1998 in A2. I don't much like the Kydex sheath (made by whoever Busse had making theaths for him at the time). I looked at the recommended sheath makers on the Busse website. I wouldn't mind a simple leather sheath, but don't want it to cost an arm and a leg or wait a year for it. Any recommendations?

Of the sheaths I've seen on this forum, the ones by Chuddy Bear are my favorites by far.

Congratulations on getting such a great knife.
That's a once in a lifetime find.

Tapedeck74,

Post a picture of the sheath as well if you can.

For a while Busse had Wegner making thier Kydex, then went with a company started by on of the Busse apprentices called "Fireborn". When Fireborn closed up shop Jerry had alot of the kydex made in house. But everybody always wants thier kydex a little different, so instead of having to keep five or six different sheath patterns on hand for each model knife he wanted to make he gave up sheath making altogether. Unless you count tactical cardboard.

As an alternative to those already on the Busse website, I would also heartily recommend Chuddy Bear as a sheath maker:

His work is first rate, his prices are reasonable, and his lead times are lightning fast. I have a couple of his sheaths for my larger Busses, and they're fantastic.

Sweet score! (insert envious smiley here)

(edit) Blargh. I looked above but didn't see that Chuddy had already been recommended. It bears repeating, though.

(2nd edit) Double Blargh. Please to excuse the unintentional, cheesy pun above.

I checked out the Chuddy Bear site. Looks good. :)
He doesn't have the SHII on his list, but maybe all he needs is a tracing and dimensions.
I'll get in touch with him.

here is a mention for leatherman, Dwayne, and he makes great ones and he already has SHSHII's in stock.

awesome blade. I have one just like it.
