Hello!
Can anyone help me with AISI equivallent of this steel ?

C 0.5 - 0.6
W 1.7-2.20
Cr 0.9 -1.2
Si 0.8-1.2

Obviously shock resistant, but which one?

Thank you very much!

Jaro

S-1 would be close.
C .55
Mn .25
Si .25
Cr 1.25
V .20
W 2.75

Per Crucible Steel Co.

Thank you Russ. I thought S1 is close, but I was mislead by somehow different legure. This is old Poldi steel material its not made anymore and its legendary. It can be found in prybars and its quite sought.
A guy here made quite recently knife out of piece, it was cutting nails and bolts, with no damage to edge.
I struck gold as I found it in flat stock. I m making big bowie out of it now.

Jaro,
That should make one VERY tough blade...!

Hopefully :D Its 18 inches long, 8 mm thick at spine. That should probably outlast nuclear war if nothing.

Interestingly what appears to be local equivalent of W1 and W2 is found in flat bars and sheets here too - the first being most widelly used knifemaking material around.

Thank you for the help, watch for pictures later!

W2 is moderately available in the US for now, but it isn't made anymore
so will be pretty scarce....soon.
