Steel in 1972 era Buck 103

That knife was manufactured in 1972 only. It has the three line inverted blade stamp. (BUCK 103 USA) That was the first three line blade stamp produced. The steel is what we thought 440. How deep are the engravings. That can be sanded off and polished out.
 
Wow, you know your Buck knives for sure. :)

The engraving is pretty deep. I think it would make the handle look funny if ground off. I think it'd be better to fill and then sand back down. But hey, it's MY name, so I'm happy to have it there. :D
