I made a knife out of a power hacksaw blade. I used a hand grinder to shape the blade. I used a power grinder to remove metel where the scales went. The blade is long, thin and wide. It is hard to sharpen but the edge last. Can someone tell me what type of steel this is? I had to attach the scales with epoxy because I couldn't drill hole for rivets.

Very likely M2 HSS. If so, that should be a good blade.

should be the M series, for general cutting purpose, and M42 usually for thicker sections that will build up heat from cutting thicker material
