steel most used

1084FG, 52100, 80CRV20, O1 and 1095 for knives... 5160 or L6 for swords. I am just starting to play with Aldo's 1075.

1084, other folks damascus and starting to play with 52100.

I am a new maker, I want to make some kitchen knives; I am planning on using cpm154, is it doable to heat treat in a soup can forge?
Any suggestions on alternative steel. I want them to be low maintenance.
Thanks

Make them in CPM154 and send them out to be heat treated. CPM steels cannot be heat treated in a forge.

A2 S35VN 01 1084

The more I use A2 as well as 1084 the more impressed I am with them. S35VN is a nice stainless to work with and takes a very sharp edge
