I wonder if this is the start of something new - reminds me of some years back when I was laid up for a long time due to a motorcycle accident. A friend brought over an old double barrel and asked me to do the stock, he also had instructions from a collector friend & supplies - I think it was charity
. I did that one, then an old Savage 720 I had, then my Ithaca 37. The Ithaca came out looking pretty good. By the time I'd finished I had probably done 15-20 gun stocks, many of which were friends' "heirlooms" from their fathers or grandfathers. Quite a few of the "heirlooms" were old single shot shotguns, .22's, even an old Springfield '03 from WWI, and you know, I probably spent more time on these than on the modern "users". Helped pass the long recovery time & made a few folks happy.
Since I'm not recovering from a motorcycle accident at present, it's sure lucky for me that a lot of folks in WNY don't have "heirloom" khukuris
