Steel preference.

Most folders I have ever owned were bought at a lower "affordabhle" price point based on design and appearence. Whatever steel the maker used was what I got.

Today, ny only folder that I carry is a Leatherman Wave. It has a D2 blade. If they made it in some newer, more sophisticated stteel formulation, I would buy it at a similar price.

The only knife I ever abused with seriously heavy use were several Buck 110s back in the 1980s. They didn't hold up then.

Whatever Medford does to their D2 or 3V is all I will ever need or want in a blade steel.
