steel recommendation for chopper

i really have the bug to make a very large chopper. i have an idea for something of a hybrid between a kukri and a bolo machete. i want it to be really massive so at least 1/4 inch thick and probably 16 inches or so in length.

so the question. besides the standard 5160 what other steels would you guys recomend and why if you dont mind.

How about A2 or L6 ?

CPM3V, L6, 5160, 1080.In order of toughness.The good kukris are made of 5160 or 5160 MOD.

I'm with emre, A2 and L6 come to mind immediately.

i wasnt sure about A2, l6 i thought they might work but.... when you hear about choppers it seems like you only read about 5160.
