Thanks in advance

I used to work at CCA in Medford (long gone now) as a block die maker back in the late 70's. I don't what steel rule is made of but it is sharp as hell. It was the cause of many trips to the ER in my day. Look it up on the Sandvick site. I know they used to make it.

thanks for the tip. I am wondering if it would be useable in a billet sandwiched between 1095 or 0-1 perhaps. I have the opporotunity to get a load of the stuff off some old dies

From what I can remember, it used to come in different hardneses. I don't know if it was the way it was tempered or if they used different grades of steel. I do know that the stock was coated. if I were to try it in a billet, I would grind off the coating first.

Give it a shot and see what happens!

Jon, we would have to do some test'g on it before making damascus with it. EX: water, air , oil and the Ole Spark Test.
