I found a good deal for a set of 5 steel small wheels for only around $80. Are steel wheels much harder to work with? I saw that you can sometimes feel the belt seam a bit more but I'd like to hear from someone with a little first hand experience.

I had one years ago, it had a diameter of 1/8". The belt splice made quite a bump. I think Norax belts would work better.

I might add, because of the small bearings, I had to run mine much slower than other wheels.

Yea, an eighth inch wheel will be running 64x TIMES faster than an eight inch wheel

A 3400 rpm motor and a 6" drive wheel at full speed would be 164,000 rpm on that little wheel.
Maybe if I did that I could finally start a fire with a fire drill :)
