Is there a good, on-line steel supplier that anyone/everyone recommends? I tried the search function but it doesn't seem to want to work early Sunday mornings. I need some 1/2" round stock W-2, but I don't need more than a 3 foot section right now.
 
admiral steel, online metals, etc. google "small quantity metals" and you will hit quite a few sites
 
Admiral is a very good site. Flatground.com is outstanding but I just looked and they only have W1 now. Maybe give them a call Monday.
 
Guess I'll have to give Admiral another try based on recommendations of others. I had the following problems: late in shipping; asked for 3/32", got something thicker; got more than I asked for and got charged for it, and was told afterwards that the lengths were somewhat random; difficulty in tracking my order. But that was only one experience.
 
If you're looking for W1 drill rod then I would check out Enco.
They have it on sale for the next month or two at 3.99 per 1/2" x 3' rod.
It seems like they have the best price around it at the moment.
 
I somehow forgot that Crucible is a short drive away from me, and they have W-1 and O-1 available.:thumbup:
