STeel testing

Well woke up today and removed the small piece of steel from a jar with vinegar in it. The piece was very small 1/4 wide by 1 inch. I had sanded with a file to make it shine before I put it in there to make sure I could tell if it got darker. Well the piece did get darker but not super dark. I rinsed it off and set it down on the counter for about a half hour and is showing slight sighns of rust. Not alot of rust but more like the beginings of it. So I guess it is safe to say it is not D2 right? John

P.S Matt Doyle said he would test a piece for me so I will be sending him a piece soon. Thanks again Matt
