Revisiting this thread prompted me to try to scour up some carbon steel warriors. Didn't find any. It also spurred me to drag out my ugly red Steel Warrior trapper. No, that's not quite true. It was the ugly knife thread.
Perhaps because I do not prize it highly, I was able to set it to some unsavory tasks, like spreading peanut butter or chicken liver pate, or scooping smoked oysters out of the tin. The process gave me a new appreciation for the trapper pattern, and at the same time abated my distaste for this knife in particular.
The knife doesn't look any better. It is still the same sickly shade, like a shade of lipstick I can't characterize further without drawing unfavorable attention from the mods. But I feel better about owning it.
