Steel Will cutjack: who to order from?

The model I want is on pre-order from Steel will. I have found the same knife, also on pre-order, on another reputable website. Should I spend the extra $10 and order from Steel Will in the hopes of getting the knife sooner, or save the $10 and order from a secondary dealer and run the risk of getting the knife much later?

Last week, I had aksed Steel Will (SMG Outdoor) regarding availability of the Cutjack and got a reponse today.

The Italian Cutjacks will be available at dealers at the end of this month.

The Chinese Cutjacks in late July.
 
Here's how it "usually" works.

The maker really likes having dealers since they pre-order lots of knives and stock them.

The maker will also sell knives direct for folks with no access to a dealer.

The maker's price will be the max suggested retail and they will feed all their dealers their orders first before direct sales. Otherwise the dealers will say forget you and cancel standing orders. Then the next production the dealers won't pre-order at all so lose lose for the maker.
 
They called me and left a VM about my preorder twice, but they never answer the phone when I call back. Doesn't look like they have the 3" in stock yet anyway. I'll probably order from a dealer and save a few bucks.
