Gentlemen:
For your consideration is this Short Bowie in Exhibition Grade Claro Walnut/1075. This is a short, stout bowie with its .280" stock and full convex blade that has been ground to zero from the spine. The swedge has been hollow ground on a three inch wheel then hand sharpened with a stone. The blade was differentially heat treated with clay, hand rubbed to 1200 grit, and etched to reveal a vivid hamon. The flats and the hollow ground swedge are in the white for contrast with the very dark hamon. The Claro Walnut has 100% crotch flame figure - it has 10 hand rubbed coats of Truoil finish filling all the pores and giving it a glass like finish. The double guard is scalloped for thumb placement during horizontal thrusts. The hidden tang extends 2/3 of the way into the handle and is set with G/flex marine grade epoxy and a mosaic pin.
