Stella Fighter

Awsome Fighter Nick. Im happy to be a part in this one. Did you notice the handle pin is my damascus? I would like new photos taken that zooms in on that pin.

Nick, Great looking knife! Are you just using a normal etch? It looks good dark with the blackwood handle. Looks stelth to me, like one of the new jet planes. As for the quilted blackwood I don't understand what you mean except for it being dull looking. Are you bead blasting it? Just nosey. My Mom's name was Stella...Ray

Thanks again :)

Bruce, thanks for being a part of it :D

Ray, on the etch I wll always take a slow, weak etch over a fast one.

I hand sand my damascus blades to either 600x or 2000x and then clean with liquid ivory. I etch in a 4:1 (water to ferric) solution. Typically I etch for about 10-15 minutes, clean off the residue, and etch again...this knife was done 4 times and then neutralized with Amonia (Windex).

Then a light sanding with 2000x and it's done :D

Thanks!
Nick

Thats a cool looking fighter Nick, great lines. I'll bet it feels good in the hand as it looks as well. Nice work.

Nick, I always knew you would amount to something!! I will have to get over to your neck of the woods, hook up with you Dave and Bill. Your work is looking great and this example is no exception. It is really not a good thing to keep showing up the old guys, for we are decieptful and crude and relentless in the pursuit of good people. Don't turn your back young fella. T
