Just curious if anyone has had this issue with their stencils? I bought these no more than 4 months ago, kept in the plastic bag they came in.
Took this one out the other day because the ones I was using had similar issues. Cracks....
Anyone know the cause? They've been kept in a drawer and not bent or otherwise mutilated.

I had the same problem. I was cleaning the stencils with alcohol. Now I just wipe them off with clean water after I use them and haven't had an issue with cracking since.

These are cracked before I used them. I can't figure it out. From what I hear this is the good stencil material. ???

I had a huge sheet made up at the local signs by tomorrow. They make what they call a "paint stencil" they are reusable, but for the price, they could be single use. I have had very good results with them.

Call Jan and send them back. Mine are a couple of years old. I just pulled them out and looked at them under a magnifier and they are still perfect.

Mine that are unused look perfect.

I did have one a used a few time curl up and crack.

Now after washing them off and lay it between 2 pieces of kydex to keep flat.

No way should it have cracked new out of the package

I just recently purchased stencils from TUS and couldn't be happier with them. I've used the same stencil for a batch of knives cleaning between usages and it still looks like new. I dry it sandwiched between folded paper towel with a very small weight on it to keep it flat. I'm betting TUS will make it right. You said it's been stored in a drawer for 4 months. I think two enemies to stencils is light and heat. Doesn't sound like light could be the issue but how about heat?

It shouldn't be hot, it's stored in a felt lined drawer in my office. I'll have to give a call.
I don't care that these are bad so much as I want to make sure it's just a one off issue and not something that will happen again.
Maybe a bad batch of stencil paper?

Not sure why that happened bit I like storing mine in between the pagdes of a big book by the etcher

That's a pretty cool idea Daniel.
I am wondering if the plastic they were sent in didn't react with the stencil material.
This isn't that big a deal, but it did mess up my logo, which isn't fun after all the work you do to get the blade just right. ;*(
