I have used Ernie for all my Stencil needs. I am very happy with his work, I am just wondering if anyone has used a different source for their stencil work. I am in a Shopping around mood.

Love to get contact info and photo examples.

When I started searching for stencils a few recommendations came up for Patricia at IMG but when I checked out there site I got information overload so I just went with Ernie.

You can get a roll of stencil tape for making custtom etching stencils. Most etchers used to come with a sample. You write, draw, or type on it, and peel it off the backing. It is only good for one etch, but that is what you need here.

Jantz carries it in a 2.5" by 20' roll- http://www.knifemaking.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=ECSR3

If you just want a foot or two, email me your address and I'll send you some.

Fastsigns or any poster shop will do cnc cut vinyl decals for around a dollar each. Mask with stucco tape and blast with 220 grit aluminum oxide. I've only done larger stencils (>1" square) this way, but they look good and cleanup is just a matter of pealing the tape off. Detail is a little bit limited but certainly better than you will do cutting a resist by hand.

+1 for Patricia at IMG. She is very professional and a super nice lady too. Once they have your artwork on file a new sheet of stencils is only $10+ shipping. If Google doesn't pull up IMG their contact info. is listed on the USAknifemaker site in the etching instructions.

Plus 1 for IMG. Been using their stencils for years. They hold up well to many, many blade markings.

Edited to add: Forget all the info on their website. Get their number and ask for Patricia. She has dealt with many, many knife makers. She can guide you through what you want and need.

I use IMG as well. All seems well so far.
