Step by step shelter building for long term?

averageiowaguy - Thank you. We are done with construction as of last fall. Other improvements would be finishing the walls so there are no gaps, by putting moss or something in between. We don't work on it most of the time when we go, just hanging out with the girlfriends. I have been wanting that book, I think i might buy it. This shelter works very well, and we have stayed in it quite a few times.

My youtube channel is MinimalGearPlus if anyone is interested. Its just reviews at this point in time.

I'd certainly like to read and see more about it.

My current shelter project is a very simple and half-assed tarp lean-to out in the woods behind my house where I can slip off for a few moments of quiet dirt time.

you just described my shelter!

Often times books do not cover problems and solutions or longevity. Or if one would build another?

I agree, they have a real hard time on the chapter that teaches creativity and ingenuity. It just doesn't take to folks as easily anymore. :)

Cool thread, reminds me of my childhood where between my older brother, my cousins, myself, and my friends, the woods along the side of the mountain and on a few ridges here had several cabins of this type that we called "forts". They were our club houses and we camped out in them a good bit.

You linked to individual pages with an individual image on each. You only need the address of the image not of the page.

Thanks for making the pics view-able!
