Sterile Battle Grade?

Sorry, should ahve read the whole post before commenting.

There have been plenty of sterile coated INFI blades. First one to cross my mind is the DSSF. I don't think there were any sterile BG blades.

That ASH looks like a skinny ASH. Coating looks like normal sage coating. No primary if it's full flat ground. I've seen rough micarta from Busse like that but not on an ASH. What site is that knife posted?

I believe the Skinny ASH is a convex grind.

If it's full flat ground, the primary grind is "full flat." To be more specific, I couldn't make out a plunge line between the blade and the ricasso in the fist pic. In the second pic it is visable.

Eta: That vendor is pretty well known and I wouldn't expect them to be fooled. I've never seen an ASH like that though, sorry if I raised a false alarm.

A convex grind might make the plunge line slightly harder to identify

Left out the word "line". No primary grind line.

There are some sterile BG blades out there... but as long as you're buying a coated knife you should be safe!
The sterile BG blades are 'regrinds' by one of the members here...

No logo on blade:

The Bama clay ASH1 I posted here is a skinny ASH, that one has a full flat grind. But I'm not positive if they all came that way or not.

Honestly, I don't know for sure either. I was getting my info from post #10 in this thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1472966-Need-help-identifying-this-BUSSE-ASH

It has a screenshot of a post Jerry made. Maybe they ended up doing both. I know there's some long time Hogs here that know way more than me. I'm not trying to haggle, I just wanted to show my resource.

Well the blade in question is showing that it sold. So hopefully we get a little more info if a member here scored it. Along with more/better pics :-) :-)

How skinny is it? What's its blade thickness?

Well go figure .22 at ricasso from my mic. When I got that moons ago was told skinny ASH and it's been in the safe till these pics. Never thought to mic it lol. Jaxx is the coating bama clay that thick ? The coating on mine is smooth to the touch, not the sandpaper style.
Now do tell, what great Hog info do you have instore for us :D:D:thumbup:

I only asked because I'm guessing that it is an LE blank...perhaps flat ground a tiny bit more than it should be @ .22" as satin finished, but still perfect to be coated and sold at a show. "Skinny" ASH 1's are approx. .195" coated, so that kinda leads me to think it's a coated LE blank or something along that line.
Still cool, and still pretty rare I think. :)

" Jaxx "

Well if I had to guess the Hog I scored that from more than likely scored it from a show, but I'm guessing.

Thanks for the info !! very much appreciated. If not for this thread I probably would've never mic it lol.

I ended up buying it and will send out more info/pics once it arrives. I do think David Brown is correct in saying that the blade has been modified based on the higher edge grind. I was looking for a user anyway, not something mint. Love the look of the ASH-1.

(also, got it below the original asking price.....yay)

Assuming I'm correct, you're welcome! ;)
It is still skinny for a LE as a .22" LE has no coating. :)

Got the ASH1. Appears to be a skinny ASH1 with blade thickness ~0.19". The black marks on the blade in the original pictures came off with just a wipe of a towel. The second hole on the pommel is present. The sharpening job is ok, the blade slices paper easily enough and shaves hair well. There is some surface rust on the blade, which should come off with some stropping. The handles are smooth. Both the front and back edges of the handles are rough, so I assume it came from the factory this way. This is my first set of micarta handles, are they all this smooth?...was hoping they would a little more texture to them.
Here are a few pics. Thanks to everyone who chimed in on this thread.

Sweet looking ASH 1 !! Congrats on the score !
I've had smoothed handles from the shop and they can be that smooth.
Thanks for the pics :-)
