Steve Corkum

Hi Steve,

Here you go:

Steve Corkum
34 Basehoar School Road
Littlestown PA 17340

Listed phone number:
717-359-9563

Another forum member contacted me offline and gave me the same phone number. As well they called it. No answer and no answering machine.

His web site: www.hwakknives.com is not working.

Another avenue those having problems with custom knife makers is:

You can contact the U.S. Postal Inspection Service in four ways:

1. Mail correspondence to this address:

INSPECTION SERVICE OPERATIONS SUPPORT GROUP
ATTN: MAIL FRAUD
STE 1250
222 S RIVERSIDE PLAZA
CHICAGO IL 60606-6100

2. Call your local Postal Inspector's office.

3. Complete our on-line feedback form.

4. Submit a Mail Fraud Report if you have a complaint involving fraud and the U.S. Mail.

As he is not answering his phone and does not have the capability of taking a message. [snip] His web site is down, which means his email is probably also down. So you are left with the option of having the postal inspectors to go knocking on his door.

We have seen at least two members on this forum who have "issues" with Steve. Im sure if the Postal Inspectors get a couple of complaints they will be more than happy to start an investigation.

Note, please don't involve the individual in the photo. Your already working on one loser, you don't need a second one trying to help. :D

Steve has contacted me offline and I've agreed to help him however I can. [snip]

Followup - Steve C called me back today and said he'd look into Sdesarno's knife and see what happened. He can be reached at the above number. With regards to other outstanding orders, he's still working on them, but had been in communication with the other dealers in question and AFAIK had worked things out with them.

For the record, here is my own experience with corkum:

i liked the knife he featured in his Blade magazine ad in 2000.
i cant recall the name of the knife, it was a tanto with a wood handle.

we talked on the phone, he said he had one almost done, and would deliver in 2 weeks.
i paid in full with credit card 2-29-2000.

the following years were filled with the same excuses that have been documented elsewhere.
my last contact was a phone call from him about 6 months ago.

here is a copy of my bill. the month wasn't a total loss, i got 2 speedtechs and some grecos :)

If I was out $400, I'd consider making a trip to personally have a word with them. :(

Gee Steve...that's kinda flimsy evidence on Corkum you got there;)!
But I tell ya what I can do; I know a guy that's gonna be out of work real soon. He's a real good communicator, so I could ask him if he could be sort of an intermediary between you and Corkum and try to get your $$$ back. See if you can get me a current phone # for Corkum (someone on the forums must have one) and I'll get my buddy right on it!

Here's a recent pic of my buddy in action! Once you get past the frothing, he's a real cool guy!

This thread has been derailed by a few individuals who are trying to mix their own problems with me in with Sdesarno's problem with Corkum.

Those posts have been removed and the original thread in question (with intact posts) is in the Service & Support forum. Any further attempts to derail this thread from problems with Corkum will also be removed and put in the original.

I say again, do not derail this thread and do sdesarno a disservice by drowing his problems with your own.

Any policy discussions & statments can be made in the Service & Support forum.

Steve, I apologize that others have decided to make their personal problems with me a part of your problems with Steve Corkum.

As I stated earlier, I've talked with Corkum about your situation and he has promise me he'd look into it. Since he's also been taken care of his other obligations, I hope this is a good sign.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any more assistance. I will post further updates as they become available.

Looks like there has been some progress here. Is there any chance that someone could speak with Steve Corkum about my unfulfilled purchase?

My letter to him dated June 23, 2003 read as follows:

"Dear Steve,

Thanks for talking with me on Saturday morning and again today to confirm your address! I was glad to reach you and really look forwad to receiving the Kogarusu! (4" blade, 4 1/2" handle contoured for a large hand with white ray skin).

Here is an official check in the amount of $325.00 drawn on Wachovia Bank. The funds are guaranteed and available immediately subject to local clearing (the new name for First Union is Wachovia).

Please send the knife to me at my home address.

Thanks again!

Philip Fandek"

Dang,
Yet another forumite is without a knife he paid for!
This is very distressing news to say the least!!
Seven months waiting for a knife you paid for!!!
What the heck is going on here!!!!

Well, fear not Phill, I'm sure someone on the forums here will help you out getting your knife!;)

Seems a shame that it has gotten to a point that it requires a 3rd party have to get involved between a buyer and maker to get a paid for product delivered. Glad it's the exception to the rule.

Good luck Phill.

Keep us appraised of any progress.

guess what i got monday? that's right, 1,483 days after paying in full.....a 7" blade, i estimate retail $600 - $700. even if i cant sell it, i wouldnt mind keeping it, it is really nice!

dont get me wrong, this does not alter my opinion of Corkum.

this should shed a ray of hope to my brothers who are still up the corkum creek without a knife

I'M FREE! FREEEEEEE!!!!!!!
