I get tired of bringing up Corkum now and then, just thought to keep him at the top of the list. I heard from him a year or so ago, and he put out the usual stuff, that he was working on my knives. As alwys , no knives ever showed up. I dont imagine anyone else ever heard from him, as they would have mentioned it hear on the forum.

if Steve doesn't work on knives or sell knives, how does he survive (unless he is not a full time maker). Anyway, Steve's story is well-known. I think Thomas has a point also, but not sure who might want to take up that responsibility?

Steve Corkum works within the tradition of Japanese swordsmithing to create modern interpretations.

Japanese swordsmithing dates back to 645 A.D. and has a proud craft tradition. Steve Corkum is a Littletown, Pennsylvania custom knifemaker who has built a reputation making knives in the classic Japanese style. First as a teenager, and later as a martial arts competitor, he was fascinated by their design. He says, “The blade styles were a focal point—the sharp lines, the way the handle and blade became one piece though assembled from many parts. I have never found better thought-out knives.” Finally at the age of 30 in 1994, he began learning the swordsmith craft.

Sooooooooooo, the $$ seems to be coming in to satisfy a judgment. All you need is someone in the area of PA to pull the trigger as an assignee of the claim.

Steve has a special place in the Hall of Shame. There are only 16 threads there. Sounds pretty close to the top to me.

Probably don't need to re-hash everything again, IMO.

Steve makes a very special knife; once you pay for it the knife disappears forever. He calls the special steel he uses:--------Imacrookium.

IIRC he does not design for CRKT anymore...........

i would not have one of his knives if it was given to me, probably the sorriest 'smith on the planet!!

the shame is his work is ok, he coulda been a contender imho.

Some time ago I wrote to CRKT about Steve Corkum. Their response to me was that they had terminated all business associations with him. It would be nice if every dealer that carries his knives would do the same thing. Unless they are just trying to unload old stock, those that continue to sell his knives are supporting a thief.

From the links above the first has nothing and Bladeart has had the same pieces for sale for probably close to two years now.
Frankly I can't understand the pricing on them. His work never appeared to me to be that good and with all the past reputation issues, you'd think they would take $50 if they could get it.

Thanks for the reply. I am aware of the two sites you mentioned. The blade art website does indeed have several corkum pieces. There are several street haws, at a price that used to be much higher. I dont know the the hawks were made, but I would imagine some time ago. I stand to be corrected, but I doubt they cost 350.oo when he made them, but I dont blame bladeart for trying to recoup their investment. Bladeart is I think a very reliable place.

Bladeart is a reliable, respectable outfit. Pity they invested in pieces that have become radioactive. The only time I met ol' Corky was at a NYC custom show & IMHO he struck me as an arrogant know-it-all.

The folks at Bladeart are the greatest!! I wish I were rich and could take those knives off their hands and throw them into the ocean (Is that considered pollution), the guys at Bladeart deserve only the best and that's not Corkscrews.........

I bet they wish Corksucker would give a 100% refund on knives that don't sell. However, the refund would have to be in cash before the knives were shipped back!!
Even a clearance sale of 75% off would probably not help move a corked-um.

Bladeart is great, not knocking them at all. Just can't understand why they don't put the Corkums on clearance or sale. Better to recover something than nothing IMO.
