Steven Tylers knife

Aero Smith members from videos I've seen in the past are very partial to Darrel Ralph customs, so with that kind of money and a affinity for custom knives there is no telling what the guy is carrying.

Kind of looks like a Spyderco Des Horn to me but im looking at the pic on my phone so it isnt that clear.

He's probably wearing woman's jeans, hence the clipping to the outside of the pocket. Woman's jeans' pockets are extremely shallow.

WGAF ?.

I dont care what a hollyweirdo carries ,or thinks about politics.

I have NO reason to believe they have any better training or knowledge than I.

And if that putz cant even get his 'knife' into a pocket - maybe he should get arrested for open carry like real citizens do.

He might learn a lesson there.

Yeah, I gotta go with bomber on that. Hollyweird stars and drugged out old rockers are the last people I'd take a recommendation from.

Carl.

It's nice to see someone famous portraying knives in a better light than as a deadly weapon.

If you can get past Rachael Ray's annoyingness- here is another member of Aerosmith, Joe Perry, with a pretty nice Darrel Ralph.

Keith Richards regulary carries a "Jamaican ratchet knife," a large locking Okapi. IIRC he got it in Jamaica and carries it as a weapon. He claims the person who gave it to him showed him how to open and use it.

The knife is in the video at 2:00 and 2:05

A lot of famous people are "knife people" and people do look up to them whether we like it or not. Isn't it better that they portray knives in a good light? Hell, I got into knives from MacGyver. :D

+1

If nobody cared, this woulda fallen off the first page long ago. People waste too much time telling other people how much they don't care. And since Steven Tyler isn't known as some dangerous killer, he may be a positive bit of knife publicity. I will take him showing off his knife over Casey Anthony any day...

It is a plunge button lock....some auto I have seen somewhere....maybe chinese knockoff.....

How does politics get injected into the conversation from a simple picture of a guy carrying a knife? I would bet my house that you listen to talk radio.

Back around 1997 or 1998, there were pictures of Tyler's custom switchblade. It was called, "The Aeroswitch." Don't remember the maker's name but it wasn't Ralph. LONG TIME AGO. Back when the pics of the gator down in Florida with the Kukri in its noggin' 'caused a ruckus. I think it was right before this forum was born or right after...I don't recall. :D

Perhaps if more celebrities openly carried knives, and promoted the usefulness of carrying knives, our knife rights would be stronger and better protected. Maybe the knife fearing public would see people who carry knives as something other than criminals, psychos, and Rambo wannabes. Maybe there wouldn't be as many restrictions on what knives (types, sizes) that we can legally carry. Of course, one can dream.

And just for the record, I'm not an Aerosmith fan, and I couldn't care less about what celebrities do or think. Although, any person, celebrity or not, who exercises their lawfull right to carry a knife, gets a thumbs up from me .

I agree! Guys like him could show it's usefulness by shaving his hair off with it! :D

Hey maybe Steven is a BF member ? It does look like a custom Tighe or DDR but personally I think he should carry a custom bowie like a Bagwell, Knight, Wheeler or Lamey with a tricked out sheath by P.Long. I saw Bobby Rondinelli (drummer Blue Oyster Cult) at the NY custom knife show a few years back. I'm sure there are a lot of rock stars are into knives and have some really cool collections.

Well, my wife has some skinny jeans with "fake" pockets or pockets that are only an inch deep, so she carries in her back pocket or in her purse. I wear skinnies too but I can fit any of my knives in them with no problem; even my Cuda Maxx 5.5.

I imagine Tyler's pants are custom designed and tailored, and they're likely similar to most women's skinny boot-cut jeans. Most likely, they also have false pockets, and that would definitely explain why the knife is worn outside. As for being too tight, I'd wager that like most slim pants, his sport a bit of spandex which would allow room for stuff in the pockets with relative comfort (if there are pockets).

Personally, I would never carry that way because I'd be too likely to snag the knife or lose it somewhere. I suspect Steven Tyler has a lot of eyes on him and doesn't walk far most days so it's probably not much of a concern for him.
