So, I have been working on a mini chef with a stick tang. It has a brass faceplate, then african blackwood and some maple burl. During glue up somehow it shifted slightly and after I started sanding into it i noticed there is a glue line, pretty noticeable. I couldn't tell last night but its clear today there is an issue. I did not sand anymore once I found the spot so it is all oversized and could be reused, how could i safely break the epoxy bond to get my maple burl back? I dont so much care about the ABW since I have several feet of the stuff but the maple burl is a really nice piece that I do not want to lose.
I know about the boiling water trick, but I have never done it. Could someone refresh me on the specifics of it and if it will work? Please and thank you gentleman. please and thank you.
