hey guys.... here's a few pics from a primitive archery shoot we went to yesterday... it was a blast, very hot:eek:, but still a lot of fun.... it was at a an archery range about 45 min. from my house... the home of bowhunters unlimited, also another archery club i belong to....

i shot fairly well, considering i don't always shoot my primitve bows.... score wise, i was in the middle of the group of about 30-35 people...my son and father in law both shot fiberglass laminated bows... they cheated... my camera is a little on the :thumbdn:bulky side, so i took a few pics....

there were soooo many awesome bows around, as well as tons of knives, dirks, and swords...

Very nice. I still enjoy the times my father and I go to Ben avery range and spend a morning hitting targets and then lunch.

I na da, Na wo tii, ha yast ti (snake medicine knife) :D

Hey Mike, is your sweat lodge an Inipi Ceremony, or sweat bath? Either way, good stuff.

Nice photos!

hey, is that a Crow Creek longbow far left in that first pic!? I use to have one of those...

Great photos, which I was there!

Mike did you notice that the guys are wearing skirts and the lady is wearing pants? :D I guess that's normal around here.

Actually I think the camo kilts and the work kilts I've seen are pretty cool. The scout troop may start wearing kilts too.

Hey Mike, cool get together.
Just curious are most of you there 3 under'ers as in some of the pics or split finger?

you are correct... the vast majority of the folks i shoot/hunt with, all shoot 3 fingers under... i can barely shoot split finger anymore...:omy father in law has only been doing it for a few months now... my 9 y.o. son has been shooting 3 under, since he started shooting at the age of 5....

Those who shoot 3 under (alot of times gap shooters, but not always) say it anchors the arrow just under the eye, so as being able to gun barrel down the arrow for sighting. And yes preference is part of it too.

i guess not everyone cut out(no pun intended) for self nocks....

But I liked the pun... That was funny.
All you Need for self nocks is a knife..I don't imagine that it would be a problem for you to come up with a knife suitable for the job. Of coarse the more tools you have the easer it is, but the best tool to cut self nocks is a SAK. The file on a SAK is my favorite for tuning self nocks.
When I see all that fine work on those hand made quivers and bows and then some plastic sticking out of the quiver its just disappointing.
