Hi guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I recently purchased a used Benchmade Presidio on eBay. It wasn't in any of the pictures posted, however the blade has a bunch of the sticker residue on one side. It appears the previous owner tried to remove the sticker and failed in their attempt. Looking for some recommendations to clean up the blade and remove the residue.

I'm a big fan of gasoline for cleaning. Breaks up most sticky, goopy substances with ease.

I usually try rubbing alcohol first, but often times that isn't enough.

Thanks for the responses guys. I just tried alcohol only it wasn't enough as Grimspoon said. Will try WD-40 and order some Benchmade Blue Cleanser and Lube for later ;)

Like the CPF forums, I have found that within my limited time lurking here on Bladeforums there is a great wealth of knowledge. It truly is one of my favorites!

+1 for WD40. It has worked perfectly for me every single time I have used it... :D:thumbup:
x2. Just wiped the blade off with some WD40. A faint outline of where the sticker once was remains but the gunk came right off. Thanks for the help guys!

I'll say, we're a LOT easier to break into than CPF... our hobby is much more acknowledged... flashlight people are still a more underground, hardcore set. In short, I will look at info over there but not post, here... well, you can see my post count.

Methyl Hydrate. Cheapest solution you will find. Also good for pickling insects if you are an entymologist, in which case it will cost nothing as you will already have some, I bet.

In my experience Kroil penetrating oil will separate anything from anything with a little patience. Wear chemical gloves, as it causes long pain on flesh. (It is actually meant for rusty bolts, filthy guns, etc.).
