Stider Pt. Thoughts?

I have multiple Striders, including a PT. They aren't going to be finished perfect in all cases, but I haven't had major quality issues. For me the PT is just a little to small and for the size and materials over-priced. The SNGs are expensive, but I can except it. The PT just left me with a feeling of being ripped off a little.

One tip is that if you order from a strider dealer on the internet, call them first and ask them questions about the knife you are going to buy. Order over the phone or even put in notes to your online order. I also state...please ensure the blade is centered, no blade wiggling, and the the pocket clip is bent correctly. After I started doing this I have had no issues. Plaza, True North, and knife art have all worked well for me.

What are your opinions of this knife?

It is smaller than you think. As in, the size of your index finger, give or take.

I had one and sold it. I almost never sell a knife, but this thing was just so teeny weeny.

Will it cut better than a $30 Case Peanut? Not really. The Peanut will be way sharper out of the box.

But you gotta factor in the "pleasure of ownership" thing. Thats what may make it worth the cost of ten Peanuts to you. Only you can figure that one out.

But a piece of string or an envelope has no idea whether you cut it with a $30 or $300 knife. JMO.

And note the SNG in my signature pic. I got it, and I like it. Its not that sharp, etc., and won't outcut a Delica, but I still like it. Go figure.

I love both strider and chris reeve knives but I have a feeling that all this warrenty work right out of the box people are complaining about is just a little blade wiggle , if I were one of the strider guys I wouldn't respond to someone phone or email bombing me every day because of this either!! Iv said it before but if you want perfect get a sebenza! If you want a tough as hell work knife that is maybe a little bit Less perfect then a crk but you don't care cause your gonna thrash it anyway, go for the strider !!! Just my 2 cents!!

Just read the letter written explaining the closing of the Strider sub forum. Wow. Seems like there is a lot of tension around here between Strider and the rest of the world. Did this happen recently? Why was Mr. Strider so mad? Seems to me like this forum is a great place. People are happy to share and good arguments are everywhere. Strange Strider would burn a bridge like this. This place did wonders for hyping up Sebenzas enough for me to buy one. Never would of if I had not been here.

Seems to me, if you have a good product, this is the best advertising possible.

i went to a very nice knife store near me, i held both the strider PT and the small sebenza, for comparison etc. and at first i really liked the strider, it just felt right, but the chance to get a used sebenza for less presented itself, i am liking my sebenza plenty, and might pick up a PT eventually but it isnt on my radar at the moment

In my 1st. post I said why would want a PT and have to carry it in a sheath..

I believe that a PT doesnt have a clip so its pocket or sheath.

The PT CC rides nicely in a small mission wallet , for those who don't like the non-clipped version floppin around in the pocket.

Granted it is a small folder , but the thinner blade , for me anyways , cuts extremely well.

Well I did it. Ordered the PT-CC from Plaza Cutlery. I called them and explained my concerns. The man picked one out from 10 that he had, examining it while I was on the phone with him. He assured me it was a good one. They also have a no questions asked return policy.

Great people. I will be doing business with them again soon. Well maybe not that soon. One could spend an awful lot of money there.

Can't wait for my first Strider.

I got it! Man is this a nice knife. Looks perfect to me. Perfectly centered. Not even the slightest bit of wiggle. Flawless finish and lock up as well. Dare I say the finish rivals my Sebenza?

Guess I lucked out.

Plaza cutlery is the best.

Nine other people will be happy, too.

I'm putting my bets on 5 others being happy...60% seems about right on Striders. Maybe 70%.

Not sure any factory could give you 10 out of 10 perfect knives, but CRK comes as close as any(hence all the QC awards at Blade...they'll get it for a while I suspect)

I'm very glad the OP got a good one though, congrats:thumbup:

I need to get past all that I read here in GBU 2 or 3 years back I guess, because I do like the looks/feel of the PT's and SNG's... if I could hand pick one. I don't know, maybe one day.
But I do worry it may change my dressing habits, cause me to start using the term "bro", and I could even wind up with a Strider tat:p I better think it over a bit longer.

Had both a Strider PT and a Sebenza. Sold off the Sebenza and kept the Strider PT.

That little PT cuts like a knife twice its size. I've used it hard and it has performed well over the last 5 years. The S30V blade really holds its edge and has held up well (not too many blemishes) from the hard use.
Plus, my PT was perfect when it arrived. Blade on-center and perfect fit and finish.

I definitely recommend Strider knives and am very happy with the PT.

My suggestion is to handle both and see which you prefer.
My personal preference is towards blade holes for opening rather than a thumbstud, so that also helped me decide to part ways with the Sebenza and keep the PT.
Have never regretted that decision...

Regards,
Mike

FWIW, I don't even call my brother bro' and I don't have a Strider tattoo.

Yeah, But...do you have a kilt???

:p
I'm just kidding around, and laughed at your line.."i don't even call my brother bro"...good one:thumbup:

I may really consider looking at some PT's and SNG's at Blade(if the have any SNG's there this year), and if I can find one to my liking I may just give one a try yet.
