Tried my first handle wrap today. I didn't come up with anything that really satisfied me for finishing off the wrap compared to some of what I have seen from Strider and such.

Here's my pics:

Hints, suggestions, pictures and the like are appreciated.

All kidding aside, nice job! I'll have to get one of mine out and give it a try...

Good luck,
Michael

I added a carbon fiber insert then did my paracord wrap.

I'm lazy, I used skateboard tape. Excellent grip. Regards, Clayton

Hey!

Check this out:Do-It-Yourself-Strider-Wrap (at the bottom of the page, slow loadin')
I did it to my Emerson La Griffe and i must say that it works way better then i thought.

Pictures are courtesy of Ralf (great work!) i think that you'll do great if you try it out on the Stiff K.I.S.S.

Good luck

I found I couldn't really get wrapping to look as neat as I wanted. In the end I put a couple of simple wood scales on.
Much easier

I've thought of going that direction too.

It might be fun to do a thin handle scale, then file in some grooves for a more complex and interesting wrap.

Have to plan it out careflly though. Maybe do the handle work on a round piece of wood, the cut it in half (in a jig) then fine tune the fit.

Ya MIGHT want to check-out some of this "Agrip" stuff.

I wrapped the handle of my Boker Mini-Smatchet with a patch of this Agrip, and it improved the "feel" of the grip by 100%!.

With the Stiff-Kiss, you could wrap it with the para-cord, THEN wrap the Agrip OVER the para-cord for a GREAT grip, as the Agrip tends to mould itself to what it is wrapped to.

I think i would wrap the Agrip on, and then maybe wrap the para-cord over the Agrip... that would look cool. I typically just take about a 1/2 -3/4 inch wide strip of Agrip and start at the back edge of the blade and stick it down straight along the outside edge of the handle and wrap around the butt and then back of the handle to the sharp edge of the blade and stop, then wrap a strip around where blade meets handle so all the edges are tucked away and the finish looks good and there is NO way my hand is going to slide down into the blade. Just like guns, the sides of the handle aren't as important as the front and back edges are for gripping and control.

I think i'm gonna do a set-up on my Covert Folder where i have stingray skin overlayed with Agrip that has holes cut out for the stingray skin to show through. The Agrip will be higher than the stingray skin "strips" under the Agrip preventing the stingray strips from wearing on clothes or skin unless "pressed into service". I bet that would look totally cool and work great too in ANY conditions.
