Friday my Dad saw me beating on a log(not a euphemism ) and told me he had a job for that "goofy black knife". Something needed cut, I'm on it! Turns out it was a 10-11" diameter at the base, dying pine tree. Thing was maybe 20' tall. He had already cleared out the low hanging branches in anticipation of his cheap labor. I only charge a couple beers per tree. 30 min of hacking later I started rethinking my rates. He brought out a hatchet, ax and bow saw to taunt me, but I would not be deterred. The Machax prevailed after about 30 min of total hacking. It was too dark to get the final shots, so I came back the next day with better lighting.

The culprit.

In Stihl I trust, but it's great to know the BK4 has my back just in case.

Badass Machaxen action! I love it! My Muskox took care of a decent sized walnut branch today, but WOW, thats impressive right there Murph!!
Hows your arm feel? Hows your back feel? lol. Nice post!

Damn, my back would have given out chopping that low, before my arm would have, haha. Great job Murph. I wouldn't have lasted long enough to finish it.

great work....but I hope MY Dad dont see this! Thats all I need, him getting more ideas for me to work!

yeah, some jobs just make u very damn grateful for power equipment!

Machax to the max. That's pretty rad, but I agree my back would be killing me. I probably woulda grabbed the chainsaw. Though it'd be Husqvarna ;).

You young fellas haven't learned to appreciate a glass of iced tea and a stick of dynamite.

In a normal situation, I never would have even thought of taking a tree down that way. On Saturday, I processed 4 large oak trees, but the power of the Husqvarna and a hydraulic splitter did most of the work.

Nice to know it can be done and I'm glad you proved it and not me!

Nice! My back would have been sore in the morning. :D
What's that black stuff on the inside of the tree?

Erd

How's your hand feeling? No blisters etc?
I'm with tradewater on this. Iced tea and a little high powered explosives would be the ticket for me.
On the other hand, I gotta say congratulations on a job well done.

It was a little warm Saturday (day after the tree chopping) , but no blisters. Explosives are always good, I believe in them highly.

I always wear gloves. I must be a baby! I was laughing because I found a cheap pair at Menards that I used on Saturday and it was raining off and on. They were a nylon material on the back and looked like deerskin for the palm side. When I took them off, my hands looked like they belonged on an Oompa-Loompa. The dye took a long time to wash off my hands, too.

One of the main reasons I love the BK4 is the chopping power. You could build a log house with the thing and a stone if you had to.
