First, I must apologize for even wanting to ask but has anyone had contact with Glen in the last ten years?

He posted on the Sword Forum January, 2006 apologizing for his disappearance to the community and I received a personal email shortly after saying he would fulfill my order but I haven't heard from him since.

Admittedly, at some point in the last 12 years I got too old to let this go. My life circumstances have recently changed to where I have a hard time forgetting and letting go of $562.21 and either want what I ordered or my money back. I'm sure I'll have to write this off but I thought I would ask here.

Thanks for reading and be safe out there!

Anything for small claims court, must be way beyond the statute of limitations, at 12 years.

Not news to OP, but background. I find no references to Glen Parrell, or G Parrell, in British Columbia.

Hi,

This may be the hardest thing I have ever done, but it is time…to stand up on this forum, which has treated me so well in the past, and apologize to my peers, my friends, clients, and respected smiths worldwide.

Some of you have been looking for me for about 4 years now. I have outstanding orders, promises to make good on and a few refunds to issue, I’m sure. Without going into detail, I will say that I got myself dug in so deep I didn’t know how to get out. Financial, family, and medical problems got the best of me.

I have not been active in my forge for almost three years. The Newfoundland shop no longer exists. My website (vikingmetalworks.com) has continued to run under its own steam – I have not been conducting any business or paying for the site to stay live. As has been reported on this site, I have recently moved to BC. I am not currently smithing, although I did have some welcome forge time last year and was able to complete Scott Byler’s blade, which many of you have seen on this site.

I have been/am scared, embarrassed, and ashamed to come forward after so much time has passed. I handled my situation poorly and will pay for that in many ways for a long, long time. But - I am not a thief. I did not intend to abuse your trust, although I know that is the end result. I did not intend to “run off with your money” although I know that is how it appears.

I am trying to rebuild myself here in BC, and part of that is attempting to make good on my promises - one way or another. I invite contact from anyone, but especially those who have been waiting on orders. Please email me at forg3d@hotmail.com.

To my fellow smiths, I am sorry. I ask prospective buyers of custom blades to not hold my actions against other talented professionals. To my clients, I can simply not apologize enough. You deserved better, and I hope to have an opportunity to deliver. My greatest wish is that you can all find in your hearts a small bit of forgiveness for a good man who got lost for a while.

To those who have stood by me and continue to help me as I find my way forward, thank you for your patience and friendship.

Sincerely,
Glen Parrell

I don't think my life circumstances would ever be such that i could forget $500! Best of luck to you, I hope you get some resolution.

Thanks for all the responses from you guys.
I went to google.ca and found a classified listing in Newfoundland by a Glenn Parrell selling a couple of heat lamps. St. John area where he was living before. The listing was posted in January. I messaged him through the website but doubt I'll hear anything back.
Very possible he moved back to Newfoundland which would explain why there's no hits for him in BC.
It's not worth hiring people to find him so I'll move on.
Thanks to everybody for reading and responding and be safe out there.
