No problem about cutting in.I was just going to start a new thread on this knife, so I hope you don't mind me cutting in... I have been offered one but was a little put off by some negative comments about weak detent, and flimsy lock bar...
I would be using the 740 as an edc, but definitely no hard use stuff - I have other knives for that. With that in mind, I imagine the fact it is not built like a tank is probably no issue. Keen to hear comments on the overall quality of this knife....
What a great knife the Dejavoo is. Another classic Bob Lum design that illiterates the subtle genius of his knife designs.
Light and smooth. At only 4.1oz you get a very capable 3.9" x .125" S30V blade in a sleek, easy opening smooth design, with well placed cutout's and lightly textured G10 that lends itself to a sure grip that fits the hand nicely. All in a package that I find ecstatically pleasing and not over the top considering it's specks. Sort of an elegant "working" knife IMO.
FWIW I remember back when it came out some of the concerns expressed that the lock bar was flimsy or weak. But in the 8 or so years since, having owned and used a couple I never had any issues and can't recall ever hearing or reading of any reports of the lock failing or blade closing unintentionally.
Now discontinued I'm fortunate that I was able to replace the one I sold. I missed it almost immediately.
I just think it's a great knife and a classic.
All the best!
[Muffled quiet back alley whisper voice on] Hey Pal, do yourself a favor and buy it already. [/Muffled quiet back alley voice off]....the other thing I should have mentioned is the one offered appears to be NIB first production... so I dont quite know if I'll be game enough to use it......![]()
Doesn't matter too much what the quotes are, what's it worth to you to have a discontinued classic?the last BladeHQ price I can find for these is $136, but I guess that was a while ago, since they are discontinued. I have no idea what they trade for as I haven't been around here long.
Have you handled it yet?CoelacanthNZ said:But the one offered comes in with change enough to buy a quality celebratory 6-pack compared to the old bhq $$$.
Don't make me put my [Muffled quiet back alley whisper voice] on again. Just do it.CoellacanthNZ said:I'm listening to you.........![]()
That would be interesting. Mine with the frame lock is pretty durn smooth already though. And quick. Did I mention quick? In my oppinion, the 740 blade and handle with an upgrade to the axis lock is probably THE perfect knife
YUP! We want to know how you like yours when you get it. I suspect you'll love it. That's how I feel about mine.Let us know how you like yours when you get it!
I can't find any documentation to back this up, but if I recall, the 740 was made from 2008 to 2011.Can anyone tell me when these knives were produced?

I believe that is correct. Out of respect the family didn't renew the licensing. That is the way I recall it.After Bob Lum's passing? Curious.
